  3.                 The Talking Checkbook - Version 7.5

  8.        Say, do we listen to folks or what?  Here's the features in
  9.   version 7.5 by user request:
  10.   
  11.        O The major feature is an alternate check printing capacity. 
  12.   This is for those checks that have the "pay to the order of" line
  13.   below the line for amount in numbers and words.  There are checks
  14.   produced like that and some of them are easier for printers to
  15.   use than the ones for which the checkbook print routines were
  16.   first written.  You bring up the alternate functions by using the
  17.   "C" coordinate menu option at the main menu.  Choose "2" at the
  18.   next menu and then "A" for alternate checks at the next menu.  If
  19.   you are not using checks with the "pay to the order of" line
  20.   after the amounts, then the alternate checks will do you no good.

  22.        O We have changed the checks entry function to allow you to
  23.   add in your own personal comment even if you are using a macro. 
  24.   If you want to keep the personal comment already stored in the
  25.   macro then just press the enter key at the personal comments
  26.   question.  This feature is not enabled for withdrawals since we
  27.   assume your personal comment in that area would be constant when
  28.   using a macro.  Let us know if we should change that or not.

  30.        O We have added a question for the expert mode users to see
  31.   if you want to have balances presented along with the check entry
  32.   screen.  One user asked for it and so the question is asked once
  33.   and will never be asked again unless you decide you want to
  34.   change it.  All you do to get the question asked again is to
  35.   erase the file "MBC.mem" from the subdirectory your checkbook is
  36.   in.

  38.        O We have compiled the Talking Checkbook using the Blinker
  39.   compiler which automatically will detect if you have enough
  40.   extended or expanded memory to use what is call DOS protected
  41.   mode.  All this really means is that if you have sufficient
  42.   memory, then the program will run using about 100 K of lower
  43.   memory and access the rest from beyond the 1 meg level.  We also
  44.   changed the formula to ensure that you must have at least two
  45.   million 48 thousand bytes of available extended or expanded
  46.   memory to kick in protected mode, since some machines were having
  47.   problems with lower amounts.  So if you are having problems
  48.   running the Talking Checkbook because of not much memory within
  49.   the 640 K lower memory base, then see if you can reduce the size
  50.   of your ram drive to allow 2.48 megs and the Checkbook will then
  51.   run with about 100 K of memory available from lower memory.  You
  52.   might want to check out some of those config reboot programs that
  53.   will reconfigure your machine for multiple applications.

  55.                  O The auto security packer has been enhanced to allow you to
  56.   turn it on forever if you like.  This means that if you like the
  57.   feature, then you can select to have it always operating every
  58.   time you bring up the Talking Checkbook.  It is also controlled
  59.   by a.mem file called "MASP.mem" and turning it on and off is a
  60.   function of erasing that file.

  62.        o If you use the automatic pay feature, then you'll
  63.   appreciate Don Barrret writing in a new routine to allow you to
  64.   have the various payment schedules shown with an option to delete
  65.   the ones you may no longer want!
